80 is a fresh on the scene up-and-coming producer from Chicago, Illinois, and currently is a 4th year attending the Berklee College of Music. Inspired by legends such as Porter Robinson & Skrillex, he recently released 2 tracks “Prevail” & “Move On” --- both very unique tracks --- and plans to keep this momentum as he releases more singles and starts to do shows. I had a chance to sit down talk with him, and many of his answers were illuminating to say the least. I believe that he is in a well sought after position to possibly change the game.

I want to tell a story with music, every note, every drop, I want them all have meaning - 80

Learning music at a young age, Aidan Keefe, aka “80”, got his start in music by learning the violin. He had a talent for it, but didn’t want to pursue the classical music route because knew he had another path awaiting him.

As funny as it sounds, I really liked the soundtrack of “The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker” & and how each track felt like it was taking you on a journey, I wanted to make music that did the same. I want to tell a story with music, every note, every drop, I want them all have meaning - 80

He definitely does do that, as one can feel the journey through his singles and he aspires to be very technical.

I want to make music that combines all genres, combining several genres to hopefully make the next wake of pop/electronic music, and in doing so, trying my best to not make it sound corny all the same. I just want to make good music using aspects from as many styles as I can and tell a story. Like ‘Kids See Ghosts,’ I think that was one of the better projects of the year. - 80

He started off by doing so as a hobby. Like many producers, his first program was a ripped copy of “Fruity Loops,” a popular beginners producing program that he just messed around at first. But over time as his confidence grew, he started taking it more seriously and then went off to school at the prestigious “Berklee College of Music” where they have a program for electronic production that he's been taking more seriously for the past two years. Still humble, he just released it quietly and sent it to friends.

“I just started, and didn’t think I’d be getting press this early! I really just was quietly releasing stuff and getting feelers and what not until I felt like it was the time to go full speed. I still don’t have everything set up. But it’s coming and I have a lot of things I am working on.” If he continues on this path, I have no doubt that one day Mr. Keefe will be a star, and I cannot wait to listen to what he has to show for it. He dreams are high, but I really think he can do it, especially since he has a background as a classically trained musician who actually can read and write music. Check him out here: its80music@gmail.com, @akeefe96, @aidankeefe, facebook, or his soundcloud. Also listen to his single's “Prevail” & "Move On" below! Just a warning however, 80 is an evolving musician.

I know ‘Prevail’ is hot, just a warning though, all of my newer stuff sounds nothing like it, I’m thinking about going for a darker tone. - 80

This should definitely be interesting, and I wish him all the best.
