The Soulful Vibrations of Malia

R&B Soul Alternative
If she had continued to play for the entire night, I’m sure nobody in that theatre would have been upset.

I recently got to catch a show on the Always Never Home tour, headlined by Syd (of The Internet and Odd Future), in Vancouver, BC. Coming into the show, I was excited to listen to Syd perform tracks from her projects Fin and Always Never Home EP- which I had on heavy rotation since they dropped earlier in 2017. I was also looking forward to one of her supporting acts, Buddy, whose EP Ocean & Montana was in constant rotation. But before Buddy and Syd had a chance to play their sets, a young female artist who I hadn’t heard of took the stage. She stepped on stage equipped with her guitar, a mic, and the support of a backup guitarist. She introduced herself softly as Malia.

What happened next was a mind and heart melting experience. Malia started her set with “Find Me,” the intro track from her latest EP Letting Go. With her soulful guitar riffs and lyrics, she won over the crowd of intimate Vogue Theatre and had them hanging on every note and syllable. Strumming her guitar strings as well as the heart strings of would be fans as if they were one in the same, she created a vibe filled with warmth and love. If she had continued to play for the entire night, I’m sure nobody in that theatre would have been upset.

Only four years into her music career, the soulful singer out of Seattle, WA will no doubt continue to touch hearts and souls and win over fans on the Always Never Home Tour. Check out Malia’s SoundCloud and listen to her latest EP Letting Go below, and just maybe she’ll touch your soul too.
