I'm SB. Thanks for having me! 2018 is prepped to be a big year for me musically! I have several projects I've been polishing, and I've been planning at least one mixtape release before the end of the spring semester. Hopefully two.

Kenya Sheppard (SB) is a multifaceted rising artist and current Cornell student (Go Big Red) hailing from Mastic Beach, NY. He's not only talented in musical production, but also artistically as well. I highly reccomend checking out some of his works - both music and fine arts - some of which I'll be linking in this article. I'd love to see him blow up in 2018; nevertheless let's hear from the main man himself!

For starters, Where are you from? How would you desribe your genre?

I'm from a small town on Long Island called Mastic Beach, NY. I'd describe my genre as a conglomerate of Hip-hop, Sadboy, Trap, R&B, and Electronica. .

Nice! What has been your favourite song so far?

Right now my favorite song of mine is "Surrounded", which samples Lil Uzi Vert & TM88's "XO Tour Llif3." .

What can we look forward to in 2018? Also, what has been the overall reception of your msusic so far?

2018 is prepped to be a big year for me musically! I have several projects I've been polishing, and I've been planning at least one mixtape release before the end of the spring semester; Hopefully two. And the reception has been alright online. I'm working to find more venues that are open to the energy my music brings in order to gain more exposure irl.

What do you want people to know about you?

I'd like people to know that although I'm shy asf I'm a laid back person once you get to know me.

What do you think about the state of hip hop right now?
I think Hip hop is a hot mess at the moment. But I'm into it, especially the honesty and politically charged messages that artists tie into their work. I guess my ideal audience would be students and adults dealing with problems that they don't have palpable outlets for.

Lastly, who are your influences?

I'm influenced a lot by Psychedelic rock from the '60s & '70s, I.e. Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc. I also really like Migos, Young Thug, Future, and Nav.

And there you have it! I really hope he blows up in 2018, he definitely deserves it. In the meantime, check out his new trippy single- Hooked - as well as his old single with Tone below!
