Bas and J. Cole have done it again. On their latest collaboration “Tribe,” the pair give us both smooth vibes and excellent lyricism. The strings-driven track is warm and inviting. Bas, in my opinion, has one of the the nicest flows out of all the rappers out right now. This beat fits his style perfectly. And J. Cole can destroy any instrumental effortlessly. The pair always seem to bring out the the best in each other, and it’s nice seeing Cole appear to enjoy himself.

Filmed in Little Haiti — a neighborhood in Miami known for Afro-Caribbean art, music, dance, theatre, and restaurants — the visuals feature vibrant colors and beautiful artwork. The video does a good job showing love to the culture and people in the area. You see Bas and Cole playing drums with local musicians and dancing with the variety of people in the area. It’s a necessary and cool reminder that you don’t need tons of special effects to make a dope video.

“Tribe” was directed by Andrew Nisinson and produced Gerrado Lopez. Bas’s 3rd studio album Milky Way is available now.
