How are you?

I’m great, how are you?

I’m good, how’s SXSW?

It’s crazy for me. It’s been a ride. This is the most I’ve ever done for SXSW. I haven’t had the time to chill so it’s been good and that’s a good thing.

What’s your earliest memory of music?

Damn. That’s a beautiful question. Yo, earliest memory of music was when I was, shoot, in Nigeria and I set up a bunch of pans and pots and I started beating on them. That was my earliest memory of music.

How many songs are you sitting on?

I probably got 500 songs or more.

Favorite thing about SXSW?

I like how you can meet different people from different phases of the earth. Just networking and talking and being yourself.

Favorite moment from this year’s SXSW?

Meeting Zane Lowe. An amazing person from Apple Music invited me and the team to Fader Fort. We were backstage chilling and I got to kick it with Zane Lowe for a few.

Favorite thing about the music industry?

What’s my favorite thing… I don’t know if I have a favorite thing. I like meeting cool people in the industry.

For your album SoulFro, is it hard for you to whittle down to such a concise project?

It kind of was because for that project I worked on 20 something records. But then I only went with the hardest hitting ones. Because it was a short project, I had to make sure every song hits.

Where all have you performed?

I performed at Antone’s on Thursday. It was dope. The energy was great from the audience. The vibes. The people were amazing. I had a few fans come through. I made new fans too. That’s what SXSW is about for people – music discovery.

Have you recorded new music at SXSW?

I recorded a song this morning. It’s not completely fleshed out yet but yeah.

How’s your time been at the Audiomack house?

It’s been good, it’s great vibes. Everyone here is just chill. Niggas is rolling up, niggas is drinking, niggas is chilling, having a good conversation.

What’s next for you?

I’m ready to drop visuals. I’m ready to tour. I’m ready to collab with other people, produce and write for other people.
