“Kanye and the Lights” and “Bright” - Two “Lit” Playlists

I noticed a while back that, coincidentally, every Kanye West song with the word “lights” in the title is undeniably great for its own reasons. “Flashing Lights” is one of the most perfect songs I’ve ever heard. “Ultralight Beam,” one of Kanye’s strongest album intros, includes an incredible Chance The Rapper verse, powerful choir vocals, and a feature from gospel legend Kirk Franklin. The ensemble of talents in “All of the Lights” could have been too ambitious to pull off, but is one of the many highlights (seriously, no pun intended) of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. “Highlights” is one of the most sonically joyful songs Kanye has made in years. “Low Lights” is a testimony for those going through daily struggles. Lastly, “Street Lights” is a metaphor for the monotony of life, knowing where you’re headed but feeling like you’ll never get there. From this I was inspired to make two playlists. The first consists of the songs mentioned above. My mind lead me to other words people associate with lights and things that shine, so I thought I’d theme another playlist for this as well. Hope you enjoy.
