SZA - Ctrl

The queen of Top Dawg Entertainment, SZA, dropped her highly anticipated debut album, CTRL. The album comes after a year of a very public back and forth with TDE co-president, Terrence "Punch" Henderson. This confusing, continuous fight was over the delay of SZA's album and she announced over Twitter that she would quit TDE. Despite this Twitter beef, SZA and TDE's partnership looks strong as ever after this album release.

CTRL is a raw peek into love, lust and life for a woman. This album speaks to every woman who has encountered insecurities of any type. The transparency that SZA brings to this album may directly relate to this past year of what seemed to be a huge personal growth year for her.

The first song on the project, “Supermodel,” may be the most brutally honest. SZA dips into the difficulties and insecurities that come with an unhealthy relationship. The pace of this track echoes the sound she released on the single “Drew Barrymore” and is a change from her usual crooning R&B vocals.

CTRL is an album for every phase in life. This one goes out to all of the unapologetic life experiences. Take a listen to CTRL below and let SZA into your soul.
